MIXED FORTUNES.

Donington Park was the venue of choice for the 750 Motor Club 2017 season opener with all the highs-and-lows that motorsport can bring thrown into the three days.

At 22 years old you could forgive our Mk1 MX-5 for being a little off-pace. However a 12th overall finish from 40 entries and a podium 3rd in Class proved that the long winter workshop preparation was worthwhile.
Completing 53 laps over the two-hour race, drivers Adam Reid and Dave Cleaver kept their race clean and consistent to quickly move up the order exactly halving their qualifying position. Considering this was Cleaver's first race (after a successful career in sprinting), his average lap-times were only a couple of seconds off the far more experienced Reid, testament to the cars set-up.
Our suspension partners Meister R Zeta CRD+ once again proved to be exactly the right choice and, matched to both dry conditions and Nankang AR-1 tyres, gave the drivers a sure-footed chassis to steer up the leader-board.

In complete contrast to her older Sister, our Mk3 MX-5 caused the team some very late finishes leading up to the weekend and then not one but two sleepless nights at the Circuit. An electrical gremlin meant that the car wouldn't put a wheel on track over the weekend, a firm lesson to the Students that - in motorsport - with all the will in the world sometimes it just doesn't go your way.
That means more late nights for the Student team before the next race at Snetterton late next month...
The Bread Van
With some 'testing' conditions over the weekend we were hugely grateful for our new The Awning Company home! With eleven Students, two staff, two race cars and only one trailer logistics were somewhat challenging over the weekend but life was made far easier by having a base from which to work and we are all hugely indebted to Sharron and the team.
ONE MONTH.
With the Easter break meaning we actually only have three weeks to turn both cars around before the next CARTEK Club Enduro race, the Students will be hard at work, both with their studies and extra-curricular commitments to the team!
There's a LOT to do but do it we WILL!
THE STORY
To those new to our journey, the Team is run, co-ordinated, organised, delievered and managed by the Students themselves. In a true co-operative nature the University staff and TWP Racing are there to advise, guide and mentor the Students.
We are always looking for sponsors and business partners to join us. We have some very exciting projects waiting for the right backing...
