MK3 - MX5
When looking for a suitable development platform nothing matches the MX-5 for durability and potential; there's a good reason Mazda have sold over a million of them!
The TWP Mk3 is as far removed from the standard road car as is possible. Whilst race suspension and semi-slick tyres are all fairly standard race modifications. Add aerodynamic surfaces, custom splitters, rear wing, under-trays and diffuser, the car changes into something much more. We have even added a rear facing camera to assist with night racing.
As a development tool, the chassis has been used by Students for their final year projects (actually a symbiotic relationship as the evidence gained from their studies often ends up becoming reality on the car).
Marry all this to the car's title sponsor MX5 Parts, and the results have already spoken for themselves.
S2 Lotus Elise
Brand new for 2019, this is the team's first foray into the Lotus brand but very much with one eye to the future. The team want to progress down the endurance route with the 24hr races being very much the long term goal, and are hoping to do so with this particular project.
Everything about the build, from conception and design to fabrication and delivery has been student-led with the key focus on efficiency and reliability rather than raw power.
